Exploring Ch. 4 PR Department and Firms

In Chapter 4, Public Relations: Strategies and Tactics by Wilcox and Cameron takes a look at public relations departments and firms. Most organizations have departments for public relations. The names of the department can vary depending on the job of the department. “In the largest corportations, the terms corporate communications or communications outnumber public relationsby almost four to one” (Wilcox and Cameron 102).

Another important aspect of Ch. 4 deals with public relations firms. These firms are “often called agencies in the trade” (Wilcox and Cameron 110). They come in many different sizes are often have a wide scope of clients. Although firms are beneficial they often have quite expensive fees and charges.
